Leader of the First Squad of the Shinsengumi known for his cheerful demeanor and his love of children in addition to his sword skill. He died at a young age of Tuberculosis.
Another member of the Shinsengumi who once faced the Hitokiri Battousai in battle though we never actually see them fight except in the OVA. Seta Soujirou is based, in part, on him.
